The Role Of Volunteers In Achieving the MDG

The International Volunteer Day provides an opportunity for volunteer-involving organizations and individual volunteers to work together on projects and campaigns promoting their contributions to economic and social development at local, national and international levels.

The solidarity and creativity of millions of ordinary people, channeled through volunteerism, can be instrumental in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). There is considerable benefit to be gained from the multiplier effect of engaging and supporting volunteering in all areas of development and especially in building capacity for the MDGs.
