The violence in the country,
especially from small arms and light weapons, has dramatically
increasing. The violence in the last 5 years has directly and
indirectly affected more than 1.5 million people. Women and
Children constitute a large percentage of the victims.
ChangeMaker is working hard to provide necessary services to
these victims through a number of ways: 1) providing immediate
medical facilities, 2) providing post traumatic counseling to
the victims, 3) providing mobility aids and tools to the
survivors, and 4) providing financial assistance, developing
skills and linking them with market system for livelihood.
ChangeMaker has developed a pool of
volunteer doctors (practitioners and interns) to provide
first-hand medical assistance to various victims of SALW
violence. ChangeMaker with its limited resources has been
providing assistance in the form of initial medical assistance,
skills development together with start-up business capital and
market linkage facilities for the families who have lost their
main bread-earner or are not in a position to pursue regular
employment because of their physical disability. ChangeMaker
also feels that mobility tools (wheel chair, crutch, and other
aids is also critically required to make the victims start a new
life. Physiotherapy, counseling is also required for traumatized
victims.
ChangeMaker appeals to the
world for assisting these victims and save the innocent lives
and their family members from cruel and harsh realities and
provide them scope for a new life. |
